Day 148 ~ Wallpaper-a-day "Leafy"

We are currently in Guilford, CT. Lena and Brooke are glazing walls & painting faux marble columns while I am overseeing the installation of the "East of Eden" wallpaper (installation photos to come). Because we are all very busy I am posting a "not ready for prime time" wallpaper.

This leafy pattern was created and hand stenciled by Doug Garrabrants. When I have time or when someone orders this wall covering, I will finish the computer work necessary to ready it for printing. Available in sizes and colors to suit your needs.

Day 147 ~ Wallpaper-a-day "Floor Cloth"

Years ago we did a series of canvas floor cloths to decorate peoples kitchen or entry floors. This past weekend I realized that I could deliver anything imaginable on a 3' x 5' canvas floor cloth. Here I took a seedpod, lined it with a hand painted filigree and added our "Wacky Wood" pattern in the center.

Day 146 ~ Wallpaper-a-day "Bronze Band"

I found this beautiful aged bronze hinge with rusted steel nails and love it so much I created a wallpaper pattern that can be as large as 25" x 190". But what to do with it? Alone it is lovely but not something you would want repeated on the wall.

I have a friend / client who wants a wall covering with "runes" for her Wiccan meeting room. Our Verdigris Bronze Rune (Day 63) wall covering could work but would be a little overwhelming throughout the room. However, if I combine the two, giving borders to the Runes, we now have something very interesting.

The combined 60 inch panels of runes with 5.5 inches border becomes structural.

Think outside the box!

Day 145 ~ Wallpaper-a-day "Extra Terrestrial"

Everything on Earth comes from the cosmos & so it could be argued that everyting is extraterrestrial. This beauty is no exception with a repeat of 46" x 26".

Day 144 ~ Wallpaper-a-Day "Mulberry"

This past weekend we did winter clean up in the garden and I was sad to see that a whole section of the ancient mulberry tree, near the top of the drive, has split almost completely off.

In honor of this venerable tree I am posting a geometric pattern I created a few years ago from it's spring branches. The diamond shapes are framed by a soft filigree, forming a delicate balance. We like it with an 8" repeat or 32%.

Spring In The Garden

We are no longer digging out from the "Winter of 2015" here in New England and in honor of spring I wanted to post some photos of our garden at its peak last year.

My wife, Lena, and especially my mother-in-law, Mona, have been developing this mature garden for many years.

When spring has really sprung I'll add a wallpaper line "The Garden", so you to can enjoy this view from your rooms.

Down the hill, horses graze in the paddocks among the peach trees.

The drive winds up to our secret spot on the hill.

It is a pleasure to stroll and relax in the different "rooms" of this magical place.

We are so blessed to live in this paradise, just 25 miles from Boston.

Happy spring to you all and thanks for reading.

Day 143 ~ Wallpaper-a-day "Peacock Textile"

Today, we will be at the Washington DC design center and tomorrow are meeting with several area interior design firms. Because of these meetings, the proposals I need to put together, the billing I need to do and the work we must start next week I have decided to postpone the wallpaper blog. So, for the rest of the week you will have to make due with "pone" which I may or may not post.

To entertain you in the mean time, I present this antique textile with a peacock tail feather pattern. Repeat 22" x 56".

Day 142 ~ Wallpaper-a-day “Gothic Trompe l’oeil Door”

I have a collection of borders, details, moldings and doors which I will add over time. This Gothic door looks like something from the 15th century. Use it as a trompe l'oeil covering for a door, an embellishment at the sides or to cover an entire wall. 13" x 74" or custom size.

Day 138 ~ Wallpaper-a-day "Lichen"

The beauty of lichen has always fascinated me. They are composite, symbiotic organisms made up from members of as many as three kingdoms. The dominant partner is a fungus. On our many hikes, Lena always wants to get to the top "just over the next rise" and I always want to stop and admire the beauty of nature. Her beauty is in the whole and the vista, while mine is in the details. This wall covering is available in a hard to discern pattern with a half drop and 33" repeat.
